Rebekah's Portfolio
My portfolio consists of my six best images, in color and in black & white. These are photos that I feel have balance and different points if view that make the images interesting.
These are pictures I have taken inside and outside of school. Outside of school pictures were harder to do then inside school pictures because I had to compose and come up of ideas to photograph for each assignment, but that helps my grow as a photographer. |
Buddha HeadComposition:
In this photo you can see a balance of positive and negative space between the background and the Buddha head. You can see the pattern and texture with in the top of the head and the pattern of the dots/lines in the background. This photo has different values from dark gray to light gray to white, creating nice contrast. Technical Aspects: large depth of field- the head and the background are in focus, the photo has good exposure- nothing's too bright or too dark, and the contrast between shades of gray. The lighting of the photo is well balanced. Artistic Qualities: The point of view of this photo is interesting because it's a different way to look at the subject. Instead of looking straight at the object, you look from the top. This photo has a calming mood, it's simple and doesn't have much going on. |
Elmo
Composition:
The positive space (Elmo) and the negative space (white background) has great contrast due to the dramatic change in color. The head on point of view captures everything I love about this old, well loved, decrepit stuffed animal. You can clearly see the texture of his fur and the tares around his mouth. Technical Aspects: This photo has a shallow depth of field, were it focuses on the body and not the feet. The focus is on the personalized area of Elmo and the more destroyed parts of him, which creates an interesting photo to look at. Artistic Qualities: Elmo is a compelling subject matter because of the great contrast between the light background and the bright red of his fur. This photo comes across as mysterious because it makes you think, what has this creature been through that made him so beat up and torn apart. |
Telephone Line
Composition:
This photo has a strong sense of line and shape because the wires are the strong lines and the wires create the shapes. The lines create a sense of repetition and movement with multiple lines leading your eyes through the piece. The framing of the piece captures enough were everything looks balanced. Technical Aspects: The rich contrast of the photo makes it interesting to look at with the dark black and the gray. The large depth of field give you the whole image in focus making it easy to see the full picture. Artistic Qualities: The point of view is from the common everyday people, a telephone line is something we see everyday and think nothing of, but when captures in a certain way can turn into something rather interesting. |
