The bright color of the bricks is a nice contrast to the light color of the dog's fur. The texture of the dog's fur is easy to see. The lines in the sidewalk and brick lead your eyes all throughout the piece.
This piece is important to me because it was a day I got to spend with my sisters before they left for college again. If I could recreate this photo I would get rid of the dog bowl behind the dog. |

Pinhole Camera Assignment
Camera Obscura is the natural optical phenomenon that occurs when an image of a scene at the other side of a screen is projected through a small hole in that screen as a reversed and inverted image on a surface opposite to the opening.
In order to create a pinhole camera you need to create a completely blacked out box with a small hole (aperture), and a shutter. In order to expose the image you need to remove the shutter and put light sensitive paper into the container. Then to process the image you need to scan it into the computer, flip the image horizontal, and invert it.
The shutter on the pinhole camera was a black piece of electrical tape and the aperture was the size of the hole made by the needle used to make the hole.
The focal length of the camera is 21.28 mm.
I placed my camera on a light post near the school sign and the gas station. The image was exposed for six days.
The light source for the exposure was the sun.
The image came out decent. The image is for the most part legible, the path of the sun is interesting because of the sign that split the path in half.
In order to process my image, I scanned the imagine into the computer and then emailed it to myself. I then put the negative into photoshop, at this point I cropped the image, inverted it, and flipped it horizontally.
I was surprised with how clear the image actually came out. Most of the image is legible and the path of the sun came out interesting with the brake in the middle. I if I could redo the image I would put the camera closer to the street, so that everything in the image woule become closer and we be clearly visible in the picture.

Pinhole Assignment(Out of Class)
I placed my pinhole camera on a pole in my grandparent's backyard.
I left the camera out for seven days.
Light made the image brighter in some places and there was a visible path of the sun. The location was farther away from the shed then I would have liked, but I was able to get a great view of the trees. The amount of time I left the camera out made the shape of the trees and the shed more visible.
I changed the aperture of the camera before taking my second image.
The shape of the objects are easier to see in my second image. The second image is brighter and more vivid than the first image.
The first image is harder to make out the shapes of the objects and buildings. The second image has a interesting pattern in the sky, creating a pleasing image to look at.
